Holiday headgear
So I was thinking, for characters with long hair, I think it looks bad when the holiday headgear covers up the hair. Yeah people may not wear the gear that much, but when we do...yeah. I think this is a small thing that wouldn't be hard to fix, so why not let all headgears just go on top of the hair like a normal person would wear them?
Also, why not let people trade hats? Like, if you missed out on a dragon mask, let someone who has one be able to make one and trade/sell it to you. Or have another way to acquire them for the ones that missed out.

Pretty sure the reason for this is technical. They didn't choose to make characters bald, they just can't give them both a hat and hair.

it won't be a small thing, because if you have hair , then you have the hat, some part of the hair will show, 3D hair, they don't go flat on your head when something sits on top of them, it will which ever is bigger will cover the smaller. just imagine beside your ranger there's a flower protruding, or the worse i can think of are necro's hair lots of them have "hair raising" experience, which if to make the hair show when the hat is on = have to go throu every hairstyle tweaking them so that the new hat can be seen. or method 2: have "false" hair stick out from the bottom of the holiday hat, and your characters will still be bald, it just be the hat with hair sticking out from the bottom edge for the illusion of hair, which means either have one style of hair sticking out from the bottom of the hat or many style of hair sticking out from the hat, this also poses a problem what if the character is originally bald?, half bald, curly hair, short hair, pony tail... instead of 1 hat that fits all, unless theres already a method or new scripting or something I don't know about, Anet has to make at least 20 different hat just so everyone's happy.

Making hair show will be both complicated and a waste of resources; really, the hats are fine as they are. Go TextMod or something if you care that much.
And no for the hat trading thing; holiday hats are suppose to be special to commemorate an event. I'm missing a few too, but I'm living with it.

They've already explained, repeatedly, that to avoid clipping/compatibility issues, they replace the player's hair with the hat. Considering some of the elaborate and poofy hairstyles the game offers, this really is the best way to do it.
/And notsigned on trading hats. I'm missing a couple that I'd love to have, but the reason I don't have them is because I wasn't at the event. Simple as that.

Agreed
Yes I think there was a previous forum or perhaps posted on GW.com about why it takes them so long just to make the hat with the bald feature imagine them having to re texture every hairstyle for the 4 new hats for this year, big issue. I believe thats why they prefer hats that cover the entire head instead of a cap.
And a big no on allowing people to trade hats I agree with genofreek I missed out on some events and because of that GW shouldnt have to baby me by giving me everything I want. If you missed out... oh well guess there is next year.

Ooo I'm liking the idea for the false hair. That would work, so it would still be one hat fits all.

Oh you're right, they did. I forgot all about it. And what about the reindeer antlers/horns of Grenth? They show hair. Now if it's a full head covering thing that covers the face and all (snowman, scarecrow, pumpkin, etc.) I can see it. But the Santa hat, witch hat, etc. should show hair.

ever play runescape? The discontinued items in that game are worth more than anything else in the game. FoW would be nothing compared to a dragon mask or a snowman head. And you could have all the golds in the world and still not have enough for one in 5 years.
As for the hair part, I agree. I don't even bother getting a headgear anymore from events because my character looks like shit in them

Yeah, except not so much when the discontinued items can be remade whenever a player (who already has one) wants for like 10g.

Its simply a lot of man hours for GW. They can do it, but they'd have to go through every hair style with every color on every face and body type then go through every hat and make it fit. Considering they'd probably assign 2-3 people to it, it could take up to a month alone.

The hats are customized so even if you could trade them the person can't give them to the trader to copy. My brother and I tried it before just to see if it would work before they stopped the hat trading. so ya /notsigned

Those don't cover the top of your head.
Besides, we all know how well they avoided clipping hair with the blindfold...

A festival hat is a memento showing that you were there for an event. That's what makes them special. I had computer issues the week of the Dragon Festival. I do wish I had the dragon hat, it's my favorite festival hat, but I wasn't there, so why should I get it? The hats say "hey I was there." If they're tradeable, it ruins that specialness. Why should you get a hat for an event you weren't there for?

Didn't know that, I don't have a problem with them adjusting it if they can but it seems like alot of unessary work for a hat you wear maybe once or twice every other month or maybe just once a year. So idc do it if you can...
/signed for hair adjustment
/Still unsigned for trading between
